ARTIST STATEMENT
Ever since I was a child, I was told my memory "sucks." So much in fact, my own Father called me "stupid" and my inability to recall anything other than visuals, drove him crazy. Of course, over the years I have learned a few tactics to combat my rapid forgetfulness, and painting is one of my strongest tools.
As a result, my work lands where photography falls short and my memories begin to fade. With a subtle glimpse of myself in a washed out reflection or as a shadow across a marble floor, I am attempting to document moments from my travels before they're completely gone.
Thus, my series, "Love Letter Tour," is a race between the head and heart, or representation and total abstraction.
